Dragons Den
R50 000

Shortlisted candidates will get 45min to pitch their business idea/product to a panel of five members of The Townships Project board. You will need to be clear on your business model/product and what is needed to take your business to the next level.

Most Innovative Entrepreneur
R10 000

For this competition, you, as an Entrepreneur/Business Owner, will need to describe how you drove innovation in your business over the past 12 months.

COVID-19 Business Challenges
R10 000

For this competition, you, as an Entrepreneur/Business Owner, will need to describe how you survived the challenges brought about by COVID-19.

Driving Profitability
R5 000

For this competition, you, as an Entrepreneur/Business Owner, will need to describe in detail what you did to drive profitability in your business over the past 12 months.

Competition Rules:

These rules are the official rules of the competition (“rules”).

These rules (together with any official competition communications) will govern and apply to the competition. Please take a moment to review these rules.

By your participation, you agree that these rules will govern all aspects of your relationship with the competition and competition-related agents.

Participation:

The Entrepreneur will need to register for the Symposium and will need to attend both days of the Symposium 25th and 26th March 2021.
The person entering must be an entrepreneur or business owner based in a Township within South Africa.
This competition is only open to legal residents of the Republic of South Africa.

Entries:

The competition runs from 01 March to 31 March 2021. No late entries will be accepted.
Only shortlisted Entrepreneur will need to present their business case to the Judges within the first two weeks of April 2021.
To enter the competition participants need to complete one (or all) of the above entry forms in full.
A person may enter either one or each of the competitions.
Only entries submitted via this website and the above competition forms will be considered for the prizes.

Closing Dates:

Entries must be completed by midnight on the 31^st of March 2021.

Prizes:

Prizes are as mentioned above, only one prize is available per competition. With a total of three prizes and three different winners.
The prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. The prize money can only be used for equipment or logistics for your business.

Prize winner selection:

The judges will assess all submissions against a set criteria dependent on each competition.
The prize winners will be notified by telephone / e-mail and the prize winners’ names will be published on the competition website: thetownshipsproject.org.za/competitions.
Prize winners may be requested to participate in publicity connected to this competition. The prize winners grant permission for the use of their names and media in any advertising and promotional material for this competition and symposium as well as future symposiums.
We reserve the right to alter or cancel the competition at our discretion, without recourse.

General rules:

If a participant contravenes these rules, the participant may, at our discretion, be disqualified from the competition.
The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
The laws of the Republic of South Africa govern this competition.
Participants in the competition understand and agree that in order to offer the competition; We must collect and use personal information about participants. This competition is conducted under the terms of applicable privacy statements.
